The Benefits

The AT+C Connection Manager VM.7 documents and visualizes the current state ("as-is") and the planned state ("to-be") in the form of plans, analyzes resources, and provides the basis for possible system expansions. The parameters for all end devices, connections, and cables can be individually defined. All information is constantly available network-wide and can be tracked at any time, in tabular or graphical form.

Professional, modular network documentation enables constant access to stored data; it grows and changes according to specific network requirements and redesigns. All system changes (moves, new connections, etc.), which previously involved high labor and administrative effort, are carried out faster and more cost-effectively with the help of clear documentation. Faults can be located and resolved more quickly.

Infrastructure and Device Management

Complete, centralized management of all infrastructure elements, devices, and technical components throughout their lifecycle is relevant not only for audits.

It also enables the rapid identification of systems or devices requiring specific actions, such as replacing outdated, error-prone components or performing necessary firmware upgrades on critical devices.

Cable and Connection Management

Functional IT is a crucial production factor, not only in technical environments but also in administrative areas. Therefore, it is essential to be able to track all cables and connections in detail to react quickly to problems.

VM.7 can manage any type of line and connection: pipe, gas, power, and fuel lines, but especially all communication technology, analog or digital, copper or fiber optic connections.

Communication lines can be laid freely or within a conduit or duct. VM.7 supports conduits or ducts with any number of subdivisions, each with restrictions (e.g., for weight, fire load, or reserved for certain cable types).

Connections between devices can be automatically determined and displayed both in tabular and graphical form.

Cabinet Documentation with VisiRack

With VisiRack, you can manage distribution and server cabinets, including their equipment and components. The cabinet view displays all devices with front and rear views. Depending on the cabinet type, installation is possible from both the front and the rear.

Shelves with contents and drawers, as well as any installation systems, including side installations, especially PDUs, are fully supported.

When planning the installation of devices, various checks are performed:

Exceeding power requirements
Exceeding cooling requirements
Weight limitations
Collisions (for installations from multiple sides)

A 3D view of the cabinet, rotatable in all directions, is also available.

Patch Manager

Integrated within VisiRack is the Patch Manager module, which supports connecting ports via direct connection or using a cable. Selecting cabinet components displays the Patch Manager as an additional dialog window, enabling users to quickly and easily create patching. Occupied ports are displayed in red, while ports where a connection is possible are displayed in green. The order of connections can be different on both sides; already occupied ports are automatically skipped.

Automatic Route Finding

VM.7 offers convenient support for two typical requirements when creating cable routes or connections:

Searching for an optimal cable laying path through a system of connected cable routes
Searching for a connection path over a network of distribution nodes by inserting patching

The first case, automatic cable routing, is started by clicking on the entrance of a cable route in a CAD drawing when graphically laying a cable.

The route search is carried out with the subsequently selected exit.

Various configurable restrictions are taken into account, and the suitable routes based on defined criteria are displayed for selection.

After selecting the desired route and, if necessary, changing the suggested subdivisions in the conduit or duct, the cable is laid further to the destination point.

AIM - Automated Infrastructure Management

Especially in critical infrastructures, it must be ensured that new connections are created correctly and existing connections are not changed accidentally or without authorization. For this purpose, many device manufacturers now offer sensor-based solutions for the automated detection of connection changes, so that only pre-approved orders can be executed.

IP Address Management

VM.7 IP Address Manager enables convenient management of IPv4 addresses and hostnames for active components and end devices.

Any number of address ranges can be defined, limited by IP start and IP end. In addition, IP addresses can be reserved, which should not be selectable even within released areas. The selection of a new IP address can be done either manually or as the next available in the selected address range. Assigning a new hostname is possible in the same input mask. When IP addresses are deleted, it can be specified whether they can be reused immediately or are subject to a blocking period.
